So many people try to improve ballet turnout by forcing it. If you force your ballet turnout, and you do not do it right, the end result will be a horrible “roll.” There is no way that such a turnout is going to improve you overall ballet technique!
When you are thinking about the problem of how to improve ballet turnout, you must remember that it start in your hips. You have to get your whole ballet posture right and you have to do exercises to help you with your turnout coming from your hips.
One very good way to start working on your turnout is the following; lie on your stomach and then you pull up your legs as high as it will go with the soles of your feet pressed together and keeping your body flat on the floor. That way you will be exercising your legs to turn out from the hips.
So, this is very important when you are thinking about how to improve ballet turnout, beware of forcing it and ending up with a horrible “roll” that will only make matters worse.
